2023: Sha’aban dumps APC, picks ADP governorship ticket for Kano

A member representing Kano Municipal federal constituency, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, has defected from All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Action Democratic Party, ADP.

Upon his defection, DAILY NIGERIAN exclusively gathered that the lawmaker joined the ADP and picked the governorship ticket of the party.

Credible sources at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Kano said Mr Sha’aban will fly ADP governorship flag alongside his running-mate, Rabiu Bako.

Mr Sharada, who is the chairman of House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, contested for the APC gubernatorial ticket but lost to the deputy governor of the state, Nasiru Gawuna at the party primary.

Similarly confirming the development to Solacebase on Tuesday, a close associate of the lawmaker, who wants to remained anonymous said, Sha’aban would formally announce his defection with some other top APC members in the state before this week runs out.

‘’Yes he has dumped APC and we are in consultation with other top APC members who are moving out of the party also, ‘’the source said.

The outspoken lawmaker was a member of G-7, a factional APC group once led by former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau.

Mr Sharada, a dogged political fighter, had braved a though political huddle and internal opposition to win the APC Reps ticket in 2019 and later won at the general election with a wide margin.
