NGO lauds Kano govt over closure of illegal health training institutions

An Anti-Corruption advocates for the promotion of Good Governance, Wadata Media and Advocacy Centre (WAMAC) a nongovernmental organization (NGO) based in Abuja has commended, Kano state government over closure of 26 illegal Health training institutions in the state.

Solacebase had reported the closure of 26 illegal health training institutions in Kano by the state ministry of health.

WAMAC had noted with great concerns in its Anti-Corruption Radio Program on Freedom radio ‘DANDUMA’ on the 25th  May 2021, the nefarious activities and proliferation of illegal Health institutions across Kano State.

The NGO in a statement signed by Team Lead, WAMAC, Zubair A. Idris, on Sunday said despite all the evidences by an investigative Journalist at Freedom Radio trained by WAMAC in the radio program, bureaucratic bottle neck slowed down prompt action by the government. However, ‘ its never late, than never.’

According to the statement, ‘’WAMAC therefore salutes the courage of the Kano State Ministry of health for rising to the occasion to salvage the society from quackery Health personnel.

‘’We urged Kano state government to be part of vanguards in the promotion of Good Governance and the fight against corruption by blocking all aspects of corrupt practices as investigated by the Da Duma radio program on allegations of corruption in it’s various institutions.’’

‘’Our organization with the support of MacArthur Foundation, has in the last four years, embarked on investigative journalism through Anti-Corruption Program and promotion of Good Governance using local languages on twelve radio stations across the six Geo-political zones in Nigeria.’’
