Kidnappers Of Zamfara District Head, Son Demand N40m Ransom

Kidnappers of a District Head Alhaji Hassan Muhammad Gayari in Gayari community, Gummi local government area of Zamfara state with, his son Yassar Hassan are demanding for N40m ransom.

According to an eyewitness, Musa Muhammadu said the gunmen arrived the community with several motorbikes and a Hilux van at about 12.30 am on Friday morning shooting sporadically to announce their arrival in the community.

Musa Muhammadu in a telephone interview with Solacebase on Friday said that subsequently after the sporadic shooting, the gunmen went straight to the District Head house, abducted him with two of his children.

‘’On their way out of the town, they shot a young man who is presently receiving treatment and later dropped one of the abducted children of the traditional leader with their phone number.’’

‘’They gave instruction for us to call them by 12.00 pm today which we did, hence they came up with their demand of N40m ransom and a threat to burn the community, failure to meet their demand,’’ said Muhammadu.

Muhammdu told Solacebase that the District Head’s son with the bandits, Yassar Hassan is a staff of Gummi local government council.

He noted that the Police has been informed of the development.

Zamfara Police Command image-maker, SP Muhammad Shehu who also confirmed the development to Solacebase, said efforts are on to rescue the victims.
