Hours after ultimatum, Ganduje’s commissioner resigns

Kano State Commissioner for Rural Development, Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso has resigned.

The resignation comes few hours after Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje gave political appointees who intends to contest for election position ultimatum to resign.

Recalls that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had directed all his political appointees that want to contest for elections in 2023 to resign.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, on Sunday, Ganduje said the appointees are given between now and Monday, April 18 to tender their resignation.

The statement said the directive was to comply with the provision of section 84(12) of the newly amended Electoral Act.

Solacebase reports that in a viral audio clip, the former commissioner thanked Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for the opportunity to serve in his administration.

Sources said Musa Ilyasu plans to contest for House of Representatives under Kura, Madobi and Garun Malam Federal Constituency.

In a similar development, Kano State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo, has also resigned from his appointment.

The resignation which also came few hours after Governor Abdullahi Ganduje issued an ultimatum for political appointees aspiring to contest in 2023 general election to resign from their post on or before April, 18th.
