Building Collapse: Dangote Cement sensitizes stakeholders

Dangote Cement PLC in partnership with Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON on Tuesday organized a one-day sensitization workshop for block molders and allied product manufacturers in Kano.

Solacebase reports that worried by the rising collapse of buildings in the country, the company said it became pertinent to educate the stakeholders on the need to prevent the disaster.

Speaking earlier, the Northwest Regional Sales Director if Dangote Cement, Aliyu Dan-Aliyu tasked the participants to be ambassadors by telling their customers about the quality of the cement.

Aliyu said” a customer who wants to build a house,  doesn’t know the quality or type of cement to use. It is the responsibility of the builder to advise him on the desired cement to use for quality building.

“In this regard, you are the ones responsible to advise them on using Dangote cement because of its quality.

“The artisans and block makers are central to the cement delivery value chain; hence we want to assure you that we will continue to have such interactive sessions, going forward, knowing that it will serve as a feedback mechanism for us in the Dangote Cement Plc.

“I am sure you will be exposed to the Float Test during the course of this workshop in order to be able to detect fake cement, which Dangote does not represent,” he said.

On his part, the Regional Director, SON, Kano Directorate, Albert Wilberforce, advised people to patronize Dangote cement because it meets all the requirements to make it standard in the country.

Wilberforce noted that patronizing Dangote cement “as it would improve economy, provide employment opportunities and reduce criminality in the country,”

In a remark , National Artisans Coordinator, Dangote Cement PLC, Johnson Olu Olaniyi,  said the aim of the sensitization is to make people know about the attributes of the product.

He added that the workshop was organized to check the rising collapse of building in the country and to sensitize the participants on how to further sell the Dangote cement to the society.

According to him, the workshop would give the block moulders and allied products manufacturers the opportunity to once again build capacity and adhere to global best practice.

Mr Olaniyi states that the workshop would help in addressing the problem of building collapse by engaging the manufacturers, builders on the standard way to make blocks and lay them in buildings.

He added that the sensitization program would be conducted across the country to update stakeholders on the varieties of Dangote cements and how they can be use.

“The aim of this workshop is on three things. To make people know the attributes of Dangote Cement, secondly to check societal menace, that is building collapse and to give back to the society by training them, by imparting them in such away that they sell Dangote cement product to people.

“The black moulders and builders would be our ambassadors that would enlighten the public on the quality of our product,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Chairman, Kano State block moulders and allied manufacturers, Umar Faruq Musa while applauding the company for coming up with the program, said it will go a long way to educate its members on measures such as mixing of cement with water and others.
