Why I dumped PDP for NNPP- Abba Gida Gida
The governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, Abba Kabir Yusuf and Aminu Abdulsalam, his running mate, have defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Abba Yusuf, popularly called Abba Gida Gida in Kano, is also the son-in-law of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano.
He announced his decision at a gathering on Sunday at Kwankwasiyya House at Diso ward, Gwale LGA of the state.
According to him, PDP had failed its supporters.
Abba also said there is no difference between PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that his decision to dump the opposition party was as a result of “the yearning of teeming supporters”.
“Today, God in his infinite mercy has joined us once again in this Kwankwasiyya house at Diso ward. We met here in 2018 when we entered the PDP and officially told the world that we have left the APC. Our reason for leaving the APC at that time was because of injustice. They have went on the wrong lane they were not supposed to.
“When they started doing things that were unholy, we decided we cannot move along with them and defected to the PDP. At that time, we thought there’s difference between the APC and PDP. It is after we went a long way, we discovered that they are all birds of a feather. The reasons that had us defect from APC is the same thing we found ourselves deeply in the PDP.
“The PDP has done a lot of unfavourable things especially at the national headquarters. We thought they will do Justice to us, especially our leader, Kwankwaso.
“We thought the PDP will show love to the people of Kano state who came out massively in the year 2019 and voted the party. But what it is doing in return is going against leaders. We discovered that whoever has the masses at heart, the party doesn’t like that person.
“It is time, we heed to the followers of the kwankwasiyya movement who have been calling on the leadership to leave these cheaters because they have seen it that we don’t have a place there. We sat and reviewed the call and have given in to their request. We have decided that this party (raising a pineapple) is the one that is going to save the masses out of the trap they are in.”
He added that the NNPP is the party that has the truthful programme that will rescue the people of Kano and Nigeria at large.
Also on his part, Abdusalam announced his defection at a ceremony held at Gwarzo town.
He also said he was positive that the NNPP will “ensure that the yearnings and aspirations of teeming people will be actualised”.
