Worried by the industrial disharmony between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nigerian Students on Monday embarked on protest against the situation, in Kano.
Besides, the aggrieved students called on the Federal government to find lasting solutions to the demands of the striking lecturers in the universities to salvage the future of Nigerian students.
The angry students in their hundred barricaded BUK by Ibrahim Taiwo road, in Kano and obstructed vehicular moment, demonstrating the incessant interruption of academic activities in Nigeria Universities.
The students under the umbrella of the National Association of Nigerian Students trooped out in hundreds displaying placards with inscription ” Adamu Adamu Must Go”; “Ngige Must Go”, “Education is a right, not a privilege”, ” Our future our gate, don’t risk it’s”.
The students, who commenced their protests from Kofar Nassarawa to the Emir’s palace, kicked against the continued strike, describing it as anti-education.
Responding, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero who received the students, said it is disheartening that the students are left idle.
He said he has being in discussion with both the Federal Government and the ASUU and advised them to resolve the matter amicably.
“I will send an emissary right away to get first hand information on what is happening now and I will do whatever it’s takes to make them see sense in resolving the matter”, the Emir assured.
