Gov. Makinde mourns Alao-Akala, directs flags to fly at half-mast

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday confirmed the death of former Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Seyi Makinde made the announcement during the Year 2022 Oyo State Inter-faith prayer programme held at the Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, the state capital.

The governor who ordered a minute silence in honour of the deceased also skipped his speech to mourn the demise of Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Makinde also in a posting on his social media handles directed that flags fly at half-mast in honour of the former governor.

“I join the good people of Oyo State to mourn the passing of a former Governor of our dear state, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, which sad event took place today.

“May his soul rest in peace and may God grant his family the fortitude to bear this great loss.

“I have directed that flags fly at half-mast in honour of Governor Alao-Akala, our brother, friend and illustrious son of Oyo State.

“His Excellency will be remembered for his contributions to the development of Oyo State as Governor, especially for taking infrastructural development to other zones of the state outside Ibadan,” Makinde said.

He prayed for the family of the late governor and residents of Oyo State that God will give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
