For the first time in the history of Kano, Mohammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital has produced 10 specialists’ medical doctors
Solacebase reports that the medical specialists whose results released on Thursday were trained in the field of Radiology , Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The Chief Medical Director of the teaching hospital, Dr. Mustapha Hikima said the Hospital is now officially a postgraduate institution for training medical doctors in specialized field and was accredited by West African College of Surgeons in 2017.
According to him, the teaching hospital presently has 22 medical doctors undergoing specialists training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and 9 in Radiology.
Dr. Hikima said this is a success to the state health sector, Kano in general and Nigeria at large.
‘’You cannot imagine how this effort will go a long way to improve the health sector in the provision of human resources, the CMD told Solacebase.
He said the aim of the specialty training for medical doctors at the state hospital is to produce large number of specialists so as to reduce the wide gap shortage of expert manpower.
The CMD added that this in no small measure will improve healthcare delivery service in the state.
He appreciated the support of the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the state health commissioner, the Director-General , Hospital Management Board and others towards this successful endeavour.
