Ramadan: Hike commodity prices, lose your dealership license- BUA warns traders

The Chairman BUA companies Alhaji Abdulsamad Isyaku Rabiu has threatened to withdraw licenses of any of its dealers found increasing the price of commodities capitalizing on high demands during Ramadan.

Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu assured the general populace that his company has provided enough commodities that would cater for all states during and after the Ramadan period aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by many Nigerians.

The BUA Chairman BUA representative in the Northern region, Alhaji Mohammad Adakawa stated this during an interview with journalists in Kano.

Adakawa who is a renowned businessman at Singer market in Kano said BUA group of companies has produced tonnes of Sugar, Spaghetti, flour and other products that are already in the market and other states of the federation geared towards addressing the menace of hike in price, especially during festivities periods.

“I’m assuring you that the stock we have will be enough for all Northern states, we have tonnes of Sugar in Sharada that will be enough for Kano, Kebbi, Jigawa, Yobe, Maiduguri,zamfara and Katsina in general. And BUA has assured that he will not increase the price of his commodities during after Ramadan period”

“Most people are not aware of the root causes of hike in price during Ramadan, in most cases, companies are those that increase the price from the source, but with this development by BUA group of companies I’m sure that this year we’ll not witness a hike in the price of commodities”

He appealed to the federal government to expedite action in reducing tax duties for importers aimed at addressing the hike in the price of imported commodities.
