A chieftain of PDP in Kaduna State, Alhaji Adamu Musa Lere, has alleged that Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who is nursing a presidential ambition is trying to create division in the party’s north-west zone in order to protect his interest and ambition in the forthcoming 2023 general Elections.
This is contained in a statement he personally signed in Kaduna on Wednesday and sent to Solacebase.
This is coming at a time when the party is preparing to hold its Northwest zonal congress on Saturday, in Kaduna.
Mr Lere, in the statement, said a consensus was reached at the party’s northwest zonal caucus meeting to cede the (National vice-chairman Northwest, National Woman leader northwest, Ex-officio national and zonal) to kano state.
‘’However, the governor, who was absent at the meeting, is allegedly deviating from the agreement by purchasing a nomination form for the office of the National Zonal vice chairman for a party chieftain in Kano state, which he alleged is aimed at creating division among the party’s ranks in the Northwest,’’ said the statement.
‘’The party chieftain appealed to the party’s leadership to nip the budding conflict in order to prevent a repetition of what caused the party defeat in the 2019 general elections.
‘’He further warned that the party should not risk creating artificial crisis in kano, which has the largest voting population, “Creating crisis in Kano political structure will certainly have contagious effect in the North-western region because of the fact that Kano is the heartbeat of the entire northern politics”, He added.
