
The wife of Kano State Governor, Prof. Hafsat Umar Ganduje has appealed to beneficiaries of empowerment schemes to judiciously utilize such opportunities so as to eradicate poverty and social menace in the society.
Prof. Hafsat Ganduje stated this on Thursday in Kabo local government area at an empowerment program for 1,000 beneficiaries together with the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo.
Solacebase reports that 600 women and 400 men were supported with items that include sewing machines, grinding machines, deep freezer, pumping machines and money.
She urged them not to sell the items but rather use the material to earn a decent living and support their families.

In a remark, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo said the empowerment scheme was conducted in line with the directive of the State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje due to his philosophy of according women more opportunities so that they can easily support the care of the family.

Out of the 600 female beneficiaries, N20,000 was given to those who did not get the deep freezer, grinding and pumping machines for female dry season farmers while those with the items got N10,000 each.
Also, 400 males were given N10,000, grinding and pumping machines for dry season farmers among them.
Meanwhile, at the event, Prof. Hafsat Umar Ganduje used the occasion to congratulate Nusaiba Shu’aibu Ahmed who emerged best in the female category at the just concluded 35th National Quranic Recitation Competition.
Nusaiba Shu’aibu Ahmed who started the competition as the best female reciter from Kabo local government, the state level, the northern part of the country and Nigeria was given N500,000 with a deep freezer by Prof. Hafsat Ganduje
The event was attended by many dignitaries that include Kano Municipal local government Chairman, Alhaji Faizu Alfindiki.
