Armed bandits have attacked the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) quarters in Kaduna abducting about 9 persons including a whole family of 6 and a housewife with her two children.

A source told Solacebase that the bandits gain access to the quarters through the airport runway at about 12.30 am on Saturday and went straight to the apartment of their victims.

‘’Immediately the attack was ongoing there was a cry for help that attracted the military personnel which led to a serious gun battle between the bandits and the security personnel. At a point the bandits engaged the military with RPG, not an ordinary gun,’’ said the source.

‘’The incident lasted for hours as the military personnel tried fiercely to resists the attack but the attackers had their way.

The source said the bandits later went away on motorcycles with their victims.

‘’As I speak with now, there is a lot of bloodstain in one of the apartments where the bandits went away with a whole family of 6, but we cannot ascertain the situation as there is nobody left in the flat, they were all abducted by the gunmen.’’

Solacebase gathered that this is the first time the aviation quarter in Kaduna is experiencing such an attack despite the growing insecurity in the state.

Efforts to get reactions from Kaduna Police Command proved abortive, as the phone of the spokesman was not connecting.
