About one hundred women journalists in Kano state will be a screen for glaucoma to mark this year’s 2021 World Glaucoma Week, scheduled to commence between Sunday 7th – 13th March 2021.
This was contained in a statement issued by Assistant Director, Information, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) Hauwa Muhd Abdullahi and sent to Solacebase on Friday.
The statement said the Screening exercise, public lecture and health walk will be conducted by the Doctors and Health Professionals of the Opthalmology Department of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano.
Solacebase reports that the year 2020 World Glaucoma Week was marked at Bayero University, Kano where lecturers and Professors from different department as well as some other non-academic staff were screened.
‘’The Head of Opthalmology Department, Dr Sadiq Hassan of AKTH urged people between 40 to 50 years and above to always go for regular glaucoma check at least every two year because it is a silent eye killer which does not show sign until its effects has started, ‘’said the statement.
