The Youths Advocacy for Northern Political and Cultural Emancipation, YANPCE has called on the National Assembly to approve the appointment of the new EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa without undue delay.
Chairman of the group, Alhaji Nasir Musa Jega made the call in a statement made available to newsmen in Kano on Thursday.
Solacebase reports that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday asked the Senate to confirm Abdulrasheed Bawa as substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a letter to the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, the President said he was acting in accordance with Paragraph 2(3) of Part1, CAP E1 of EFCC Act 2004.
Mr Bawa, 40, is a trained EFCC investigator with vast experience in the investigation and prosecution of Advance Fee Fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic crimes.
In the statement, Alhaji Nasir Musa Jega said the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa by President Muhammadu Buhari is a pointer to the enormous human resource abound in the country, left untapped.
‘’President Buhari deserves commendation for making good his earlier resolve to actively engage Nigerian youths in governance in this country, ‘’said the statement.
The group, therefore, wish to categorically state that, the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa is well deserved and also call on President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint more youths into governance with a view to bringing the best in them for the development of the country.
‘’The youths of any country are its treasure that must not be relegated to the rear in the developmental drive of the country even as he wishes Abdulrasheed Bawa best of luck in the cause to move Nigeria forward.’’
