National Orientation Agency (NOA) has restated willingness in partnering with Kano state independent electoral commission(KANSIEC)as it prepares for next year’s local governments’ elections.
Kano state NOA Director, Alh Lawan Haruna Makarfi stated this when he led a delegation of the state office of the agency on a courtesy visit to KANSIEC headquarters on Monday.
A statement issued by KANSEIC Public Relations Officer Dahiru Lawan Kofar Wambai on Monday said Alh Lawan Haruna Makarfi explained that the agency has offices in 44 local government areas of the state that are used to sensitize the populace on government policies and programs.
” Our offices in the 44 local government areas are deeply involved in the enlightenment of people at the grassroots on policies and programs of governments, ‘’said the statement.
‘’At this critical time, our officers will redouble their efforts in mobilizing the public on the need to be peaceful in the electoral process .’’
It said KANSEIC Chairman, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka said NOA and KANSEIC are partners in progress and assured that the commission will engage NOA officials in its undertakings.
Similarly, the commission received the executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) zone one.
The zonal secretary of the association, Abdullahi Muhammed Saleh said they visited KANSEIC to introduce themselves and elaborate on areas the association has been tirelessly working for a better society that includes; fight against examination malpractice, drug abuse, cultism, child abuse and underage hawking among others.
Responding, KANSEIC Chairman, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka appreciated them for the visit and urged them to assist the commission towards organizing a successful election.
