Kano state government has apprehended 13 herbal medicine vendors for violating the law banning the use of vulgar words in advertising their products in the metropolis.
Solacebase had reports that Kano state government task force on the control and arrest of herbal medicine vendors imploring the use of vulgar words in advertising their products commenced operations on Monday.
The Executive Secretary, Kano state Private Health Institutions Management Agency PHIMA, Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu confirmed the arrest to Solacebase on Saturday.
Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu said the suspects were arrested at Alfurkan, Fagge and Sharada Jaen Jum’ at mosques.
He noted that others were apprehended along Sabon Titi, Western by Pass, Gurin Gawa quarters and Zoo road.
‘’The effort is to sanitizing the practice of rampant street advertisement of traditional medicines using vulgar wordings with public address system,’’ said the Executive Secretary.
He explained that the tasks Force is Chaired by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa and include the state police command, KAROTA, HISBA, other security agents and health practitioners among others.
The Executive Secretary noted that those arrested would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
