The newest radio station in Kano, northwest Nigeria, Nasara Radio 98.5 FM officially commenced test transmission on Wednesday and inaugurated on Thursday by a special guest of honour and former Kano State Governor, Senator. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Speaking at the inauguration, Senator. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso urged the station to be operated professionally and adhere to the ethics of journalism.
He appealed to the radio station to serve the interest of the masses in regardless of party affiliation, religion, ethnics or tribe.
The Chairman, Board of Directors of the station, Alhaji Kassim Bataiyya said the radio station with modern broadcasting equipment compared to none in this environment would cater for all strata of the society.
The station Project Coordinator, Sunusi Bature said the radio station would broadcast for 6 hours for the next four week and commence full scheduled program in January 2021.
Solacebase reports that some of those at the inauguration were, Senator, Rufai Sani Hanga, Alhaji Ado Muhammad, Chairman, Freedom Radio Group, former Director-General, Kano Government House and former President Nigeria Guild of Editors, Baba Halilu Babadantiye and former Commissioner for Information in Niger State, Malam Abdul Kagara.
