The Emir of Kano, Alh Aminu Ado Bayero has called on Kano state Independent Electoral Commission (KANSEIC) to ensure the conduct of violence-free and fair election to sustain peaceful coexistence in the state.
Alh Aminu Bayero stated this on Wednesday while receiving the management of KANSEIC in his palace as part of preparations for next year’s local governments’ election.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Commission Public Relations Officer, Dahiru Lawan Kofar Wambai on Wednesday.
Solacebase reports that Kano state Independent Electoral Commission has scheduled the council elections for January 2021.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero in the statement said,” Kano is known to be leading in all ramifications, it is leading other States in other spheres of life, hence there is the need for continues sensitization and enlightenment of the public for the need to have a peaceful electoral process and avert anything that can cause a crisis.’’

‘’KANSEIC Chairman, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka said they were at the palace to intimate the emir on the commission’s preparation for the forthcoming local governments poll and to seek for a royal blessing as his palace was his first point of call in the activities lined up for the exercise, ‘’said the statement.
‘’Prof Sheka maintained that the commission had fixed 16th January 2020 as the election day in accordance with the law banning the appointment of interim management Officers as the tenure of incumbent chairmen is expiring on February 2021.’’
