President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday approved a special salary scale for teachers across Nigeria.
The president also increased the number of years of service from 35 to 40.
President Buhari stated this in Abuja on Monday during the celebration of the 2020 World Teachers Day.
Solacebase reports that World Teachers’ Day is an international day annually celebrated on October 5 since 1994 to commemorates the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, represented President Buhari, said the new salary scheme is to motivate teachers for greater productivity and effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
