KEDCO reverts to old electricity tariff

The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says it has complied in full with the directive of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission to suspend the recent tariff increase following the joint communique issued by the Federal Government and the Labor Unions.

It said the 14-day suspension of the tariff takes effect from Sept. 28 to Oct 11, 2020

This was contained in a statement issued by Head, Corporate Communications, KEDCO, Ibrahim Sani Shawai on Wednesday.

According to the order, prepaid customers who purchased electricity tokens from today, Wednesday will receive value based on the old tariff while post-paid customers will see the value of the old tariff reflected on their next bill.

‘’Also, customers who have migrated to the new tariff will need to load a key-change token on their meter to enable them to activate their meters for the updated tariff before loading their token units.’’

The statement added that customers can request for a key-change token through KEDCO customer care portal- or visit nearest KEDCO offices or call 070055551111

However, customers who have not migrated to the new tariff should go ahead and buy units and load as they do not need to generate a key-change token.

‘’KEDCO is committed to the course of ensuring that our customers across Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states that they shall continue to benefit from all incentives or directives given by the Authorities in a timely and equitable manner, ‘’the statement said.
