JUST IN: Ex-Super Eagles star dies at 48


Former Super Eagles defender, Ajibade Babalade, is dead.

Babalade, who played in the Senegal ’92 African Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles, was said to have died on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

According to the PUNCH, the former football star was said to have died of cardiac arrest.

The newspaper said it learnt Babalade, 48, died while being rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

He is survived by a wife and three kids, who are all based in the United States of America.

Babalade’s Senegal ’92 teammate, Ike Shorunmu, also confirmed the death of the Lagos-born ex-footballer.
