Kano threatens sanction against private hospital over poor sanitation

Kano State Government has threatened to sanction a private hospital, Sahara Specialist Hospital along Maiduguri road in Tarauni LGA.

The Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) made the threat on Wednesday during an inspection visit to the health facility.

This was contained in a statement issued by the agency Executive Secretary, Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu.

‘’The facility was found to be unsatisfactory towards the maintenance of sanitation especially in the male ward where it observed that all the mattresses therein were sagged and dirty and some were worn-out,’’ said the statement.

‘’However, bedsheets and bedside lockers were also not available for all the beds.’’

‘’Indeed, evidence of cracks in some places even in the consulting-room, faulty plumbing work, dampness on the walls in some areas especially around the staircase were fully observed in the hospital.’’
