Kano State government has approved August 10, 2020 as the resumption date for senior secondary schools students that are expected to write their final exam.
The state Commissioner of Education Muhammad Sanusi Kiru announced this at a news conference in Kano on Monday.
The commissioner also directed all principals to make arrangements to receive SS3 boarding students on 9th August, while day students are to resume on 10 August 2020.
Solacebase reports that Kano state government closed schools to check the spread of COVID-19 in March.
The commissioner said, private school operators are expected to report there readiness to resume through the Kano State Private and Voluntary Institution Management Board using an appropriate checklist and obtaining a written ”no objection to open” on clean bill of health.
Muhammad Sanusi Kiru said the governor has directed the ministry of environment to decontaminate public and private schools while the commissioner for Health in collaboration with the Commissioner for Education should provide handwashing facilities, arrange for free temperature monitoring of both staff and students, provide face mask for staff and students in both public and private institutions, as well as provide hand sanitizers.
He noted that the resumption date for other examination and for the rest of the classes including the SS1, SS2 and JSS 1-3, as well as primary schools would be announced in due course.
