Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has presented food items and N2million bank cheque to the Jigawa State Government for onward distribution to the good people of the State as part of efforts to assist Nigerians to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is sequel to the similar distribution of food and cash palliatives to the Governments of Kano and Katsina on Thursday and Friday respectively.
A statement issued by Head, Corporate Communication, KEDCO Ibrahim Sani Shawai and sent to Solacebase on Saturday, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Jamil Isyaku Gwamna said the occasion was an opportunity for KEDCO to give back to the people of Jigawa State and to show how much the company values them as major partners of the electricity distribution company.
‘’Represented by his Chief Operating Officer, Mr Vijaykumar Sonawane, Alhaji Gwamna said the pandemic had shown to the world that we all need one another to survive, adding that this is our moment to show that we care not just in words but in deeds,’’ said the statement.
“This is our own way of assisting both the people and the government as a responsible company that prioritises the satisfaction of customers and residents of states in our franchise area.’’
According to the statement, the Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar appreciated KEDCO for the gesture, stressing that the donation was not about the quantity of the items but the concern shown by the company at a time like this.
The statement said the items given include 1,000 bags of 10kg Rice, 1,000 gallons of 4litre cooking oil and a bank cheque of N2million.
