The Kano State House of Assembly has endorsed the Kano Emirates Council Bill 2019, which seeks to create four additional emirates in the state.
Solacebase recalled that the bill was sent to the House on Monday by the state Executive Council.
However, the house was in a rowdy session during debate on the bill on Wednesday at plenary and subsequently went into a closed-door session.
Before the passage of the bill on Thursday, it scaled through second and third reading as the house later went into a closed session.
Subsequently the Speaker, AbdulAzeez Garba Gafasa later put it to a voice vote in which it was unanimously accepted to pass the bill.
addressing journalists after the passage, the Majority Leader Abdul Madari said the law is in the interest of the people as it will enhance security and developmental growth.
Solacebase recalled that the state house of assembly on May 6, 7 and 8 2019 conducted proceeding that led to the creation of the four emirates that include Rano, Karaye, Bichi and Gaya which were nullified on November 21 by a Kano High Court presided by Justice Usman Na’aba.
