The Police Operation Puff-Adder has arrested a fleeing driver of a car that crushes a KAROTA personnel to death in Kano.
Solacebase recalled that a Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) personnel, Tijjani Adamu, 27, was knocked down at El-Dorado Junction along Airport Road in Kano where an exhibit of a Motor Vehicle Plate Number was recovered on October, 29.
The driver was said to have run over the Personnel who was trying to remove the vehicle plate number when the driver refused to be taken to the agency’s office.
A statement issued by Kano Police Spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Friday said the suspect Alkasim Hussain, 27, of Unguwa Uku Quarters, was arrested at his hideout at Farm Centre Quarters in Kano.
The statement said the Operation Puff-Adder Team led by DPO Bompai, SP Daniel Itse Amah also recovered the car used, a Peugeot 307 Motor Vehicle with the remaining plate number HZ 998 EKY.
According to the statement,’’ during interrogation, the suspect a mechanic said the vehicle belongs to a customer who gave him for repairs on the said day.’’
When asked if the owner of the car is aware of what happened, the suspect said the car owner was not informed of the arrest and running over of the KAROTA personnel.
The Police image maker noted that the command’s Commissioner of Police CP Habu Sani, who ordered the deployment of technical tools to aid the Puff-Adder Team for the arrest of the driver after visiting the Command’s Control System directed that the case be charged to court after investigation.
