Some Kano residents took to the streets in protest against a court ruling on Thursday which nullified the creation of four new traditional Emirates.
The protest took place in the four new Emirates that include Rano, Karaye, Bichi and Gaya with the protesters expressing dissatisfaction on the ruling.
Some of the protesters carried placards with inscriptions,’’ Rimin Gado local government is in support of Karaye Emirate’’, the people are in support of the creation of new emirates’’ etc.
Solacebase reports that a Kano State High Court on Thursday nullified the creation of four new Emirates in the State.
The court presided by, Justice Usman Na’abba ruled that the creation of the Emirates and subsequent appointment of new Emirs did not follow due process.

However, Kano State Government says it is studying the judgment of Kano High Court that nullified creation of four new Emirates in the state with a view to taking immediate appropriate action.
This was contained in a statement issued by the state Commissioner of Information Comrade Muhammad and forwarded to Solacebase on Thursday.
The statement said despite the ruling, the government still recognizes them as First Class Emirs and will continue dealing with them as such.
