The Bauchi state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Aliyu Tilde, has sacked the principal of a secondary school in the state for underfeeding his students.
The school Principal of Hasan Usman Katsina Unity College was sacked along with two storekeepers.
The Education Commissioner, in a media statement in Bauchi on Wednesday, said the affected officers were found serving the food of 350 students to over 1,200 students last weekend.
Dr. Aliyu Tilde who did not disclose the name of the principal expressed surprise this would be done by the school when the state government had provided sufficient food items to all its 35 boarding schools before the inception of the school term.
The statement said that a new principal, Hamza Dakusni had been appointed by the ministry for the school.
He said a robust high-tech arrangement for monitoring of students’ meals along with designated resident food police would soon be introduced to all boarding secondary schools in the state.
He said Malam Hamza Dakusni had been appointed as the principal of the school while Shamsuddeen Yunusa, was appointed as Vice-Principal 1, Administration.
