Thousands of Kano residents on Wednesday, filed out on major roads to welcome Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on his arrival a week ago outside the state on a national assignment.
The residents and supporters took over the streets of Kano chanting victory songs, celebrating Abdullahi Ganduje’s victory at the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal a week ago.
The governor who departed for South Africa with President Muhammadu Buhari on the very day the Tribunal nullified the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s governorship candidate, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, was amazed with the mammoth crowd of supporters who were jubilating and hailing him over successes recorded by the administration
The Max Air aircraft that brought Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje from Abuja landed at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) at exactly 1:30 P.M. as residents in their thousands had besieged the airport as early as 10 a.m. and waited patiently until his arrival.
The supporters that lined up the street including men, women, and youths were waving their hands at the snail-pacing convoy of the governor, chanting “Sai Baba Ganduje, Ganduje Yadawo, Barka Da Zuwa Ganduje,’ Baba Oyoyo.
Security operatives had a hectic day controlling the peaceful but excited crowd who defied the scotching to welcome Ganduje from the airport in a journey that would have ordinarily taken ten minutes from to Government House lasted four hours
