Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have arrested Committee Reorientation Council Chairman in Madobi local government area Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Shehu Yola, his deputy Abdulkarim K. Jubril and APC Chairman in the area, Surajo Usman Kubarachi over alleged fraud in the federal government school feeding program
A very reliable DSS source told Solacebase on Tuesday that the 3 men are undergoing interrogation as they were alleged to have been short charging the cooks engaged to prepare food for primary school pupils in the area.
Solacebase gathered that the three men are accused of compelling the cooks to submit to them N22,000 each out of N32,000 forwarded to the cooks every two weeks by the government to prepare food for the pupils.
A source said those not willing to comply with them were removed from the scheme.
‘’ For instance in Kanwa ward, Madobi, initially 22 cooks were engaged, but those not willing to comply with the deduction were sacked by the CRC. At present only 4 cooks are left in the scheme at the ward, ‘’said the source.
The source said with only 4 cooks left in the scheme at Kanwa ward in Madobi, they are baffled with what happens to the fund meant for the other 18 cooks that have been sacked
However, after observing a decline in the distribution of the food distributed to pupils and the quality with the quantity, parents in the area had an open meeting that led to the attention of the Department of State Service (DSS) and subsequent, arrest and interrogation.
Meanwhile, Kano state Chairman of CRC, Alhaji, Ya’u Abdullahi Yanshana denied knowledge of the incident when contacted by Solacebase but promised to investigate the situation and get back to us.
