Nigeria Customs Service said it has intercepted 25 tons (25,000 kg) of Donkey skins valued at over N70m in Kano, prepared for export to China.
The service said the Donkey skins wrapped in 678 packages were already labeled with shipping mark and port of destination is Shanghai in China.
Comptroller Kano/ Jigawa Command, Nigerian Custom, Alhaji Ahmed Nasiru stated this while addressing journalists in Kano on Friday.
‘’The feat was achieved through intelligence efforts by our patrol teams as we have also made three arrests and on the search for other culprits,’’ said Ahmed.
He said with the ongoing investigation, it was discovered that some Chinese nationals were involved in the crime, adding that the factory where the contraband was found has been sealed.
Solacebase reports that other seizures made include 19 cars with duty value paid of N7.7m, 4 motorcycles with duty value paid N206,472, 490 bags of foreign rice with DVP of over N10.9m and foreign vegetable oil of N56.6m.
According to the Comptroller, others include, foreign Spaghetti, Sugar, Soap with Cannabis Sativa, all with DPV of over N5m
