Kaduna Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of six travelers on Kaduna-Abuja highway by gunmen.
The confirmation was made in a statement by the spokesman for the command, Yakubu Sabo in Kaduna.
The statement said the incident occurred on Sunday evening on the expressway.
DSP Yakubu Sabo said the armed men, who wore a military uniform, intercepted a commercial bus with passengers at about 11:40 pm on Sunday near Rijana Village along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, and later took away six persons into the bush.
He said the police patrol teams within the axis were quickly mobilized to the scene and engaged the abductors in a gun battle.
The statement noted that two of the victims were later released by the criminals in their desperate attempt to escape.
The Spokesman in the statement added assured that efforts are still on to rescue the remaining four victims and arrest the kidnappers.
Solacebase gathered that the victims were traveling from Offa to Kaduna onboard a commercial bus belonging to Okin Motors
Also, Offa Descendants’ Union (ODU), said it was already making efforts to secure the victims’ release.
The National Public Relations Officer of the Union, Maruf Olalekan Ajenifuja, on Monday in a statement in Kaduna confirms the effort to secure the release of the victims.
