A weightlifting coach with Kano State Sports Commission (KSSC) Baba Yusuf on Saturday was killed in a motor accident that occurred along club road in Kano metropolis.
According to an eye witness account, the deceased who rode on a motorcycle was on his way to his workplace, the commission’s office from his brigade quarters residence in Nasarawa local government area when the incident occurred.
The eye witness disclosed that a dark blue Volkswagen golf wagon with registration number Bauchi KTG 174 AA was responsible for the sad incidence.
According to the eyewitness ,”A Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) official in a hot chase of the blue Volkswagen golf ended in a scuffle with the driver as the Karota official allegedly gripped the steering and as a result of the tangle, the motion vehicle swerved and knocked down late Baba Yusuf who was on motion and dragged the body of the deceased on the tarred road, thereby culminating to the death of the victim”.
“Passersby rushed to the scene, pulled out the remains of the deceased and his shattered motorcycle from underneath the Volkswagen wagon”.
Also, it was gathered that passersby subsequently mercilessly beat the Karota official and was rescued by Policemen who were passing along the road.
Solacebase observed that Kano Road Traffic Agency officials of recent have been involved in incidences that have led to drivers sustaining injuries and the officials arrested by the Police.
The Spokesman Kano State Sports Commission, Sabo Abatti who confirmed the incident, stated that the Commission received the news of the incidence with a rude shock.
He revealed that the deceased served the Commission for a period that lasted over two decades of meritorious service before his demise
Also the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed arrest of the Karota Personnel.
Solacebase gathered that the remains of Baba Yusuf had been deposited at a morgue.
The deceased left behind a wife and children.
