With the retaliatory actions of Nigerians over the xenophobic attack in South Africa that led to many of South African businesses been affected in Lagos, Oyo and other parts of the country, MTN and DSTV offices in Kano, on Wednesday were temporarily shut down.
Solacebase gathered that the MTN office within the Kano Business District was shut based on the instruction from its headquarters to temporarily shut as heavily armed security guard the premises of DSTV in Nasarawa GRA of the city.
According to our Correspondent, security agents at MTN Kano office confiscated phone of a young man trying to take pictures of the place.
Also at the DSTV office, Our Correspondent gathered and observed two truck of Police and a truck of NSCDC personnel on the premises with a locked gate.
Also in an SMS message to Solacebase MTN read:” Yello; Our shops are unavailable today. You can reach us on Twitter-MTN180”
Activities at Shoprite on Zoo road by the Trade Fair Complex was skeletal with stern-looking security personnel
However, operations at Stanbic IBTC on Bank road in Kano was normal.
The spillover effects of the xenophobic attack in Nigeria has been widespread, and there are fear it could rear its ugly head in the northern part of the country.
