Kano state government has declared Monday 2nd September 2019 as work-free day in commemoration of the new Islamic calendar, 1441AH.
This was contained in a statement signed by the state ministry of information and Culture, public relations officer Sani Abba Yola on Friday.
It said Sunday 1st September 2019 is equivalent to 1st Day of Muharram 1441AH
It said the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajjiya Hafsat Iliyasu noted that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje urged Public Officers and Civil Servants in the state to use the occasion of new Islamic year to pray for peace, stability, and progress of the state and the nation.
It added that the governor wishes all Muslims in the state happy New Islamic Year celebration and enjoined them to continue living peacefully with one another in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
