Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA) says Bayero University Kano is the first public university in Nigeria to enjoy the highest number of 7 professional examination waivers from the body.
The professional body country head in Nigeria, Mr. Tom Isibor said Babcock University in Osun and Baze University in Abuja are the only two privately owned universities in Nigeria that exceeded BUK with 8 exemptions
It said apart from granting the waivers, Bayero University is one of the only five out of 150 universities in the country to enjoy collaboration with the body.
Mr. Isibor stated this during a visit to Bayero University Kano Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Yahuza Bello during the week.
He said ACCA working towards instituting an annual prize to be given best graduating accounting students of Bayero University Kano as part of the accounting body efforts to encourage competition among students.
Mr. Tom Isibor noted that Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA) is holding two events at BUK which is ACCA summit and Mentoring Scheme all geared towards ensuring proper training of future accountants adding that the body plans to establish a CBT center in BUK.
In a remark, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Yahuza Bello, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Adamu Idris Tanko said that the level of infrastructure on the ground at the varsity was as a result of deliberate efforts by successive leaderships of the university.
He appealed to the Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA) to expand the existing collaboration with the body beyond the Department of Accountancy to include the Faculty of Management Sciences to involve the university as a whole.
The Vice-Chancellor assured them of the willingness of the university to grant its request for a CBT centre on one of its campuses.
