Suspected gunmen have abducted a nursing stepmother of Adamawa North Senator, Elisha Ishaku Abbo, and killed his uncle, who raised an alarm over the abduction.
Abbo, the senator representing Adamawa North District in the National Assembly, is battling a court case over allegation of assaulting a woman at an Abuja sex toy shop.
An eyewitness said that the gunmen stormed the family house of the senator in Muchalla ward of Mubi North Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of Saturday and kidnapped his nursing stepmother, Madam Rifkatu Ishaku, who was delivered of a baby a week ago.
The witness noted that the gunmen, on arriving the area, went straight to Abbo’s family house and abducted his stepmother and that as they made away with the victim, Abbo’s uncle came out of his room and raised an alarm on sighting the gunmen.
The witness added that the gunmen opened fire on the uncle leading to his death, and they went away with the victim unchallenged.’’
The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Yshaya Nguroje, confirmed the situation adding that the police had deployed officers and men to track down the killer abductors.
