The Renaissance Coalition in collaboration with Civil Society Organizations have demanded the resignation of the four newly appointed Emirs in Kano
They described the recent creation of new Emirates by Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as deceptive, personal and not in tandem with the overall aspirations of Kano people.
Solacebase recalled that Gov Abdullahi Ganduje assented to the bill establishing the four new Emirates on May 8th and presented the staff of office to the emirs appointed for the Emirates on May 12.
The newly created emirates include, Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi.
While briefing newsmen in Kano, on Monday, the group under the auspices of Renaissance coalition said the move is not far from subverting people’s interest for the benefits and selfish interest of a few.
Abdurrahman Bappa Yola who spoke on behalf of the coalition said the emerging situation in Kano is condemnable and berates Ganduje’s actions which he described as a calculated and personal vendetta to clip the wings of Emir Sunusi for being outspoken.
“There are more pressing issues which deserved priority and urgent attention by the state government rather than hell-bent on balkanization of Kano emirate into five fragments, which have no added value to the well-being of Kano populace as far as socio-economic development are a concern” Yola added.
The coalition of the CSO furthers say the state house of assembly was also to be blamed in this regard, towards complimenting Ganduje’s personal wishes to whittle the historic Emirate, instead of passing numerous unattended bills that are more useful and worthwhile to the betterment of the entire Kano populace, but join the bandwagon of realising what they called the wishes of governor Ganduje.
The coalition of CSO calls on the Sultan of Sokoto, traditional rulers and influential people in the north to call on Governor Ganduje to do everything at their disposal to reverse the creation of more additional Emirates in Kano for peace to reign and to preserve the age long-standing history which Kano is famously known over the years.
