Kano state government has scheduled for tomorrow Sunday, Mass Wedding of 1,500 Couples that will be carried out across the 44 local governments of the state.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Abba Anwar on Saturday said the sum of Twenty Thousand Naira (N20,000) would be given, by the state government, as Dowry for each Bride involved in the exercise which amounts to thirty Million Naira (N30m) for all the 1,500 couples.
The statement said while Dowry would be paid, it is also part of the magnanimous engagement by the state government that, complete sets of beds, side mirrors, wardrobes and mattresses would all be provided, to each couple.
It said the gesture of the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is borne out of the greater emphasis the administration places on human development.
”Another complete sets of cushion chairs would also be given to each and every couple, which includes 3-Seater chair and other side chairs. Window blinds and plastic carpet will also be provided,” said the statement.
”Clothing materials, popularly called ‘Shadda’ would be provided for all the would-be husbands, so that they appear as happily wedded Grooms, showcasing their happiness to families, friends, and well-wishers.”
Solacebase recalled that, a 23-member committee on state-sponsored mass wedding was mandated to select and screen eligible beneficiaries across the 44 LGAs.
The committee is headed by Prof Sani Zaharaddeen, Chief Iman of Kano Central Mosque.
