The board chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr Muhammed Mahmood, on Monday was abducted by kidnappers on the Kaduna-Abuja Highway.
Dr Mahmood was abducted alongside his daughter while travelling from Kaduna to Abuja Monday afternoon, while his driver was shot dead on the spot
According to a source, they were kidnapped around Katari, a village few kilometres from Zuba, close to Suleja.
An aide to the chairman, Hussaini Danladi, said the incident occurred in the afternoon.
The spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, Yakubu Sabo, said the force has been alerted and working on getting more details and would release a statement later on Monday.
