The All Progressive Congress (APC) legal team in Kano has expressed readiness to defend the victory of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in the just concluded 23rd March supplementary election held in the state.
A member of the team Barrister Abbas Haladu spoke to journalists on Wednesday on the team’s preparation before the governorship election tribunal which began preliminary sitting on Tuesday.
Barrister Abba Haladu who explained that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abba Kabir Yusuf has no substance to pose any threat to the victory of Ganduje, expressing confidence on the credibility of the Tribunal to do justice.
On his part, another member of the Ganduje legal team, Barrister Ibrahim Aliyu Nassarawa similarly expressed reservation over PDP’s request to access INEC election materials few days before the expiration of 21 days within which they have to file their petition.
Barrister Ibrahim who insisted that it will be difficult for INEC to meet up with PDP’s demands five days before the expiration of 21 days.
The Justice Halima Shamaki led election Tribunal in Kano on Tuesday ordered INEC to allow PDP to inspect the election document. The Tribunal however was not specific on any time limit within which the check should be carried out.
