According to a statement issued by her son Nuruddeen, Hajia Aisha died on Saturday after a brief illness at 79.
Hajiya Bridget Aisha Lemu, a British-born author and religious educator converted to Islam in 1961
She established FOMWAN in 1985 with other Muslim women and was elected as its first national Amirah for four years.
