Governor of Kano state Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje led government delegation to the Kano Central Mosque, where special prayer session was held for the nation’s peace, prosperity and development, under the leadership of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

It was around 10am when the governor joined the Emir, at the Mosque, and the duo prayed alongside other renowned Islamic Clerics, who gathered to pray for peace, tranquillity, national integration and national development.
A statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Abba Anwar said the special prayer session started few years back, with the support of the governor and unrelenting commitment of Emir Sanusi II, where Islamic scholars gather and recite the complete Holy Qur’an for many times. After recitation from the Holy Book, both Ganduje and the Emir alongside other distinguished personalities pray individually for the state and the nation.
This year’s Annual Prayer session focuses on the security challenges facing the country, quest for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general election this year, moral decadence among youth, amongst others.
While the gathering acknowledged the security situation in Borno and Yobe states, participants prayed for other neighbouring states like Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara states to have lasting peace for the development of the individual states in particular and the country in general.
Emir Sanusi II, reiterates, on behalf of all attendees, that “…what we need in this country is to continuously pray for lasting peace and national cohesion for the overall development of the nation. It is only when there is peace that we can get other things work well.”
Adding that, “We pray that Allah save all our states facing security challenges in this country. And May He continue to protect us all. May He see us through peaceful election, as elections are around the corner.”
On the support and synergy exhibited by governor Ganduje, Emir Sanusi II, directed all Imams of Mosques across the state, to organise similar special prayer session for the inclusion of all in the spiritual effort.
While directing all Imams, he also ordered all Islamiyyah schools across the state to pray alongside with their pupils and students and pray for peace, tranquility and national development.
“We are directing all our Ward Heads and Village Heads to organise similar prayer session. I also want, at this juncture, thank the state governor for all the support he has been giving us towards organising today’s event. May Allah reward you Your Excellency, the Governor,” Emir concludes.
