The principal suspect in infamous Offa bank robbery , a dismissed police constable Michael Adikwu is dead.
Kwara State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade, stated this on Wednesday at the State High Court when five of the six principal suspects were brought to court.
The five suspects arraigned today in court include Ayoade Akinnibosun, Niyi Ogundiran. Adeola Abraham, Salaudeen Azeez and Ibikunle Ogunleye.
The robbery that the police said claimed 32 lives while the vigilante said claimed more than 50 lives involved five commercial banks on April 5, 2018.
During the Court session on Wednesday, Commissioner for Justice Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade who said that his office received the case file of the robbery operation on Monday evening explained that the head of Police investigation team, Abba Kyari notified him that one of the suspects, Michael Adikwu was dead.
He explained that due to Micheal Adikwu’s death, that the five suspects brought to court could not be charged unless an amendment was made on the charge sheet.
Ajibade also noted that the case could not continue for the day because the suspects had no legal representation as he sought adjournment of the case for the amendment and for the suspects to get legal representation.
The presiding Judge, Justice Halima Salman adjourned the matter till November 30, 2018 and ordered that the suspects should get a legal team.
