The Islamic Forum of Nigeria has inaugurated 11 standing committees to champion the interest of Nigerian Muslims.
Speaking shortly after inaugurating the committees, the National chairman of the Forum who is also a former military governor of Kano state Brig. Gen Ahmad Muhammad Daku (rtd) said the reconstitution of the committees followed a resolution reached at both executive and Annual General Meeting of the Forum.
Gen Ahmad Muhammad Daku (rtd) who was represented by the deputy national chairman of the Forum Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Bello (Sarkin Fulanin Gwarzo) said the Islamic Propagation committee has chairman of Kano state Council of Ulama Malam Ibrahim Khalil as chairman, manpower and development is chaired by DIG Uba Bala Ringim (rtd) while research and planning is to be coordinated by Professor Sule Bello.
Others are chairmen of finance committee Alhaji Shehu Ashaka, security Brig. Gen. Ahmad Muhammad Daku (rtd), legal advisory has former Chief Judge of Jigawa state Justice Tijjani Abubakar (rtd) and political strategy committee is to be chaired by Dr. Saidu Ahmad Dukawa.
The others are economic and business development assigned to Professor Sulaiman Karwai, relief and social welfare Alhaji Dalhatu Muhammad Gwarzo, Inter-Organizational relations Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni and that of publicity has chairman of Freedom Radio Group Alhaji Ado Muhammad.
In a remark, the executive secretary of the Forum Professor Salisu Shehu recalled that the Forum was formed a week after the ill fated 1990 coup, to enable Muslims confront some challenges by empowering them with necessary skills.
Professor Salisu Shehu appealed to members of the committees to contribute immensely in addressing challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and globally.
