The Kaduna State Police Command on Friday confirmed 55 people dead in Thursday’s communal crisis at Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Commissioner in the state Commissioner Ahmad Abdur-Rahman said twenty two suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the mayhem.
He told reporters that normalcy has already been restored by mobile and conventional policemen as well as a team of the state joint security Operation Yaki, despatched to the town.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai visited the area on Friday for on the spot assessment of situation.
The police commissioner also visited the area to engage youth leaders, traditional and religious leaders as part of measures to check further bloodshed.
The state government on Thursday soon after the problem started, imposed a twenty four hour curfew on the community.
