The presidency on Sunday reacted to the viral video of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje allegedly receiving bribe amounting to about $5million from contractors in the state.
An online newspaper Daily Nigeria said a sting operation that captured the governor on camera was said to have begun two years ago when one of the contractors agreed to plant spy camera on his kaftan while offering the gratification.
Although the video clip released by the paper showed the governor allegedly receiving money from a person without the face of the person and audio
According to the online newspaper publisher Ja’afar Ja’afar the governor was reportedly clearly captured in nine clips, while six others did not clearly reveal the governor’s face.
Meanwhile the clip has generated reactions from some Nigerians who described the situation as a shame to the Buhari led administration while others said it was scam and much like acting
Reacting to the clip, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Diaspora & Foreign Affairs, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the video does not look real and was suspicious.
On her Twitter handle , she wrote, “No audio?? Suspicious.”
Abike Dabiri-Erewa in response to a user, who asked if CCTV had audio? The Senior Special Adviser said, ”You are obviously ignorant. The report said the person who recorded hid the camera in his cloth, in this political season, don’t get carried away with anything and everything. Think.”
