Former Kano State Governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau is to officially defect to All Progressive Congress (APC) on Saturday, Solacebase learnt.
The former Minister of Education whose report of dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday generated controversy has concluded plans to move to the APC with thousands of his followers on Saturday at a highly attended ceremony by big wigs of the party.
A very close source to the Sadauna Kano informed Solacebase on Thursday that Malam Iibrahim Shekarau held a meeting with his supporters on Wednesday evening where a decision on the party to move was adopted.
The reliable source said the meeting which was attended by most of the governorship aspirants under the PDP that include Alhaji Mahmud Madaki Gini, Alhaji Saliu Sagir Takai, Alhaji Nasir Muhammad, Dr. Umar Mustapha ( Mai Matolatum) and Alhaji Ahmed Aruwa among others .
Solacebase recalled that the two time Kano state governor had cited injustice due to the insistence of the national headquarters of the PDP to dissolve the state executives without recourse to due process and not creating a level playing ground for party members as part of the reasons for dumping the party.
