The commission said they were registered within 16 months under the continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu hinted this at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja on Thursday.
Professor Yakubu said presently with the 14 million more Nigerians registered to vote, the total number of voters registered by the commission now stands at 84 million.
The INEC Chairman noted that the number of those who took part in the CVR exercise represented a 21 percent increase in the total figure of eligible voters in the country.
